How Big Is A Cubit?

Seriously- I think we need to be building us an Ark here. These photos show you what the past couple days have been like in some part......

Snickers The Rock Star Pony: "And Just WHERE Are My Water Wings, Mother?"

The Well Housing. Not a pond normally....(that was this morning.)

This is what the horses have been doing for two days now.
Eating, and hanging out in the shelter.

Look close--- see the fricken DUCKS?? That's on the edge of my TATER PATCH.
Last night, there were DUCKS.
Swimming.
Over my TATERS.
One lonely, water logged, sad little tater plant, that this morning is completely
under
water.

It dawned on me, after I got this post up, that y'all needed
The Rest Of The Story.

I woke this morning to pouring rain.
Again.
And no water here in the house.

Oh Damn. This is bad.
No water inside, means
No
Coffee.

After the past couple weeks of very little sleep,
Worry over Johnny Reb,
and Crazy Insane Children,

I

NEEDED

COFFEE.

The solution came to me as I staggered around outside, feeding the horses in the still pouring rain.

The horse's water tanks are a sacred place to me. They get washed just about everyday.
There was lots of water in there.
Fresh rain water.
Filled to the brim.

I slopped inside.
Got my mug.
And got water from the horse tanks to have coffee.

It worked.

I am almost coherent.

The good news? The Well Man was here and saved us. We now have water inside.
Which means more coffee.
And potty flushing.
Laundry can be started.
And dishes.

And I can shower.

AMEN!

Oh you poor dear! I can SO identify with the need for coffee to get me going in the morning. Wow, you've had insult upon injury.

Things WILL get better!!

Well damn - I'm sorry about your lack of coffee. Had to laugh at the ducks. I have them in my horse pasture every spring at my place.

I tell people that it's wet at my place in the spring, but no one really believes me till I tell them I have ducks and geese swimming in my pasture.

Sorry about the taters - hope they survive. We had your weather last month, torrential downpours and lakes and mud everywhere - we even had a pair of ducks hanging out in the giant (knee-deep) puddle that was in the middle of the aisle leading to the pastures. I had to wade through that sucker 12 times a day while turning horses out!

No Coffee! NOT GOOD! I'm with you in that need for speed every morning! I can't function without caffeine.

And I would have done the rainwater cuppa joe thing too. Heck, you have to boil the stuff first anyway so why not?

Wishing you a little drier weather!

Oh that made me laugh so hard! I'd be doing the same thing, no doubt. You go for getting it from the horse tanks. That's just proof you keep it clean enough for YOU to drink. That's good!!!
Hope it gets better, really. Coffee will make it better. Get the kids started on the ark, just in case.

You have just grossed me out so bad I gagged. I wont eat at horse shows unless there is running water to wash my hands with. I can't believe you made coffee with horse water. eww. Just chew coffee beans or something!

I am glad they fixed the well and I hope Johnny Reb is doing better.

Oh dear I can sympathise. I hated it when our well went dry or some other aspect of the system broke. Life is bad without coffee. I'd drink river water just to get coffee.

Worst icky thing that happened was when I put the coffee mug down on the ground. When I picked it up and drank some, there was a lump. Turns out that it was a slug that took a swim.

Yikes! Hold onto your taters or they may just float away...the ponies, too!

That's a heck of a lot of water. And here I am complaining about how dry it is here and would love some serious rain....but yours might just be...a tad bit too much! lol!

Will it take days to soak into the ground or will it be gone the next day the sun comes out?
Do you think all that rain will be a negative thing for the garden, or will it grow like crazy?

Well, I'd say you're a true cowgirl when you have no qualms about using the horse trough to fill up your cowgirl coffee pot.

Deperate times call for desperate measures, eh? :D

Not having water is the worst! Our well pump was broken for two days once, and I always cringe when I get in the shower, because that's where I was when the well stopped pumping. Thank goodness for full, clean water troughs. That's actually my biggest fear. My horses can drink both troughs down to nothing in a couple of days in this heat, and if the water pump breaks or we have to dig the well deeper, they won't have any water. I'll have to hook up dozens of hoses to a neighbor's spigot or something. Your place looks like real serious swamp land right now.

Water from the water trougs! Guiness girl! Glad you got some coffee!

Sorry to hear about JR, have had you all in our prayers. ((HUGS))

Sorry I've been MIA this week~allergies kicked my butt, then little cowgirl had the stomach bug! Glad to be back and checking in!

Ducks! I have frogs and a ingrid moved in here! We still have water standing in the pasture. Sure thought the bird would have left as many times as Shelby has chased it off!

Girl you are a country woman!! What a fantastic cup of Joe!! And wow, you have been getting slammed with that rain! Your poor tater plants!! I hope they can make it! We are so dry here right now, we could sure use some of that rain over here.

Boy, you couldn't make coffee from my tanks.....not that I don't wish you could, but the help here sucks! LOL I'm still trying to scrape the red algae off the sides of the tanks. I just cannot get a handle on getting rid of that stuff and it seems to grow faster than I can scrub.

Glad to hear the well is fixed. I know how tough it is around here when that thing breaks. YUCK!
