Sonny's Sunday

That is a worried face.

This has been underfoot.
A lot.

This did not happen this week.
Boy do I miss it....

And THIS, below...

Instilled the worried look on Jo,
and kept the Five Pound Assassin indoors.

Since about the last week or so in January, this cat has been under my porch.
I thought maybe it was a *he* lured in by the promise of..
well, since this is a family blog,
Lets just say that I thought he showed up because Kitty Biscuits was in season.

Biscuits has since been spayed (about a week after she was in heat,)
and that cat is still here.
I'm not feeding it.
Actually, I'm trying to ignore it.

Wait- I DID feed it one night.
A couple nights ago, when I went out to call in the Biscuits for bedtime,
Porch Kitty came up on the porch and was sociable.

So.. I fed it.

And saw that it is wearing a collar.

The next morning, it was back on my porch again, waiting with a persistent (and loud)
MEOW.

Dear Husband let Jo the Wonder Nanny Dog out for her morning constitutional,
and next thing we hear is Jo, crying and yelping in terror.

Seems that Porch Cat attacked my dog.

Porch Cat is lucky to be alive, 'cause no one messes with my dog.
(Even if said dog is a 75# chicken in a dog suit.)

Porch cat was chased off,
and I saw no sign of it yesterday.

This morning though, I went to let Jo out, and there it was...

I had to escort Jo out and stomp my feet and make mean noise to chase off the cat,
before Jo would even come out on the porch with me.

Biscuits, who loves to go out and lie in wait to ambush everything and anything
looked out the door and said,
"Oh hell no I am not going out there! I'll go out the BACK door when you feed the horse Mom."

I've already contacted our vet and had the rabies talk about this cat.
I know what to watch for.
Ads are up where ever I can think to post them,
hoping that the owner of this cat shows up and takes it home.

Otherwise, I'll advertise it for adoption.

Seriously-- no more animals here for a bit.

And NO-- there will NOT be an animal here
That will
Chase
My
Dog.

(Except for Sonny. But the dog does not enter the fence.)

Sooooo... anyone want a cat?

No thanks, I have 2 cats of my own, and they have a habit of showing up here, too. I love dogs, but they are such doofy goobers and I think need to be kept in their place by cats. Not that I want to see anyone get hurt, just that they be kept ... humble, shall we say.

LOL "75# chicken in a dog suit"! We have one of those, too. Except it's more pathetic when it's a Doberman.

We've never had the problem of stray cats showing up...we have one neighbor cat that comes and eats our barn cat's food in summer, but whenever I spot it, I let the dog out; problem solved :)

No takers here either. We have 40 or so cats in the barn, all strays or "drop-offs". I'm so sick of it! My dog had a special cat friend and the latest throw-away cat (saw this one getting put out of a car) killed him. The dog is very depressed. I hate hate hate people who toss cats out. Hope you find a home for the intruder.

I already have two that drive me crazy. When they are gone, thats it NO MORE. We have so many strays in our neighborhood htey are taking over.
We have tried to catch them many many times for a quick trip to the woods.

Poor Nanny dog, at least it's not a skunk!

I would take Porch Kitty if I were closer. I suspect that the chance of Porch Kitty having rabies is very, very low. A collar at least means someone loved Porch Kitty once upon a time and most likely got Porch Kitty vaccinated. So, even if the rabies vac isn't current, a titer test would probably show a pretty good level of immunity to rabies yet. So, you can probably worry a little less in that department. :)

Porch Kitty most likely attacked Jo just because Porch Kitty is scared itself. And those doggies, they can be scary! Just ask George, the old man cat lump on my couch how many times he's been thumped by giant doggie paws that want to play!

It sounds like the ideal home for Porch Kitty would be dogless, or that has a dog that needs to learn some kitty manners. We call those type of cats, "Dog Trainers". Disrespectful pups soon learn to give kitty a wide berth and not treat them as play toys.

My Doberman is also a giant chicken in a dog suit.

Too funny...if it had a collar..hope it goes back to the one that placed it there since your kitty got changed permanently!
Well that is an impressive dog suit -for the chicken!

I'm not tolerant of stray cats either. I'm tired of vet bills for abcesses caused by rude visitors.

Luckily I haven't had one yet that decided to take on my dog.

It's a very pretty cat. If you wanna make it scram throw some moth balls. It'll vacate.

Bad Ass Cat you say!!! LOL
Well I am not getting any more cats at my house since Phoebe is gone. Good luck with finding it's home.

It sounds like all the strays find you like they find me! We have a problem with people tossing cats up here in my neighborhood as there are several barns. Barny Barn Cat took off after I had him fixed and all shots done. Guess he didn't like sharing the barn when the horses came home. Now I have another one, can't get anywhere near it so will have to set the live trap again. Sigh....

I've never seen such huge stones! That poor dog! My son has had two bouts of stones and it's not fun.

Yes, you are right, it is making my heart feel better writing Skip's story. I went as far as I could and will continue in a few days. Even my minister came up and gave me a big hug today at church as he had heard about us losing Skip. Even non-animal lovers try to understand for the most part.

Love from Tundra Country! xoxox

You know, I think the cat has had a bad experience before with dogs. i am sure with a little time he can become more sociable. You should give him a try. LOL
