My Friend Is A Meanie Head.. Or--- Be Still My Heart

So WHY do I say my friend is a meanie? Well, see, it kinda goes like this....

We're horseless. Working towards a Very Specific Goal (having a horse at this moment is not really in line with The Plan). My pal knows this. And still she emails me and says, "Have I got a critter for YOU!" This is a pal I trust entirely with her equine judgement.

Yep.
THAT is the reason my dear friend is a meanie head. This handsome chunk is a 3 year old Appaloosa / Hanoverian cross. The result of a nurse mare breeding. Roughly 15.2 to 15.3 hands.

Y'allllll.... let me tell you...... I love my friend dearly, but THIS is Dirty Pool!

Because THAT is the body I've been dreaming of. (Yes- the off side hock is thick- he took a hit to it However, that does not deter me all that much, as thanks to Sonny Bunz, we've had a good deal of education in dealing with hock issues.)

So y'all-- TALK ME OUT OF LOSING MY MIND OVER THIS HORSE.

PLEASE!!

Oh that is a meanie! I want an Appaloosa so bad myself I can't stand it. My favorite horse I had as a teen was an Appaloosa and I loved her so much. We had 3 Appaloosas but Tequila was my baby. At one time I had 7 horses at one time....now that was too many for a kid to have!

How will you feel in 2 years when you are ready, and the horse is long gone? Just wondering...

Experience with hock issues yes, curing them, not so much. Just remember all the heartache that went along that road. There were lots of time you needed horse time that Sonny couldn't accommodate. Of course, I say this as your friend who knows how much you want exactly the right horse and knowing this one LOOKS good doesn't mean he really is.

Man, I've never seen a horse that looked so YOU before. That is a LOUD appy!

How sound is he? If it's not bothering him now, and you can get a good price, I'd say go for it. But I am a very good Bad Friend. ;)

Sorry, can't help you...I'm an enabler :)

Callie said...

Well, He is handsome.......that's for sure, I have no doubt that you can deal with the hock issue, however is he what you really want for "crew" as well. Trying, not working real well, though, LOL!

You may need to ask yourself if a horse like that comes around every day. If it doesn't, well...

Midlife Mom said...

That horse has YOU written all over him!!!!! Not for me to try to talk you out of it or into it BUT he is one good looking guy!!!!!!!! :o) Love that cross, you'd have one handy and sturdy guy!!!!! xoxoxoxox

Hate to be a party pooper, but I say stick to your plans. If this horse is meant to be yours, he'll still be there when the time is right for you.The hock would be an issue for me, it's so much nicer to have a sound horse so that you're not always having to worry about it. This horse is indeed a beauty, but there are a lot of beautiful horses out there, if I owned every one I fell in love with, I would have a huge herd!

oooooooo, those seductive spots!

Hock issues scare me off, though. Enough happens AFTER you get a horse...

I am the WORST at this and would probably also be a meanie head! I think everyone needs ponies - sometimes the best ones find us at the worst times huh???

PS - Thank you so much for your kind words on FB when i needed them.... ;-)

After the week I've had, I say life is just too damned short not to enjoy it. I'd buy him in a heartbeat!!! You know you want him...as Capn' Piccard would say...make it so!

That boy is a stunner. No conflict here - go for it!!

I know you don't know me so maybe my comment will help you out. The horse is really attractive but ....if you have a plan stick to it and anything injured would have me thinking long and hard about anything except a pass. The world is full of beautiful horses and when you are ready there might be something out there that really needs you.

Life is short - get the horse! LOL
