Here I Sit...

It's well past my bedtime. I *should* be sound asleep by now, but... I'm not.

Instead, I tossed and turned. Too many thoughts have crowded my head all week long, too many things going on. Time to sit down and try to collect those thoughts has been scarce to say the least. Looks like tonight might be that chance.

'Tis the season. The season for insanity, commercialism, crabby people with glazed over eyes, fighting amongst themselves for the stupidest things. Too many forget the REASON for the season, and they find it impossible to look beyond what the television/ interwebz/ and radio scream at them to buy, Buy, BUY!!!

But there are some.. Some who can not, and will not forget that reason. They just won't. They don't want their names mentioned, accolades, pats on the back, medals or any form of recognition. We have met a lot of those people this week.

See, last Saturday, we had a house guest join us. Life jumped up and bit this man in a very bad way, and left him in dire straights. Whatever you may choose to call it- Fate, Life, etc- it left this good man in a position that was more or less incomprehensible to Dear Husband and I. Not being ones to sit by idly while a friend and brother struggles, we brought him home. Dear Husband, being who he is and never one to settle for the small stuff, spread the word that this man needed help. We were literally overwhelmed by the response. o-v-e-r-w-h-e-l-m-e-d. Anything our friend and brother needed, is arriving daily. Notes are popping up from all over in Dear Husband's in box- "Hey, this is what I've got- look for a box on XXX day."

The generosity of everyone- some of whom we have never met, never talked with, nothing.. we would not know each other to pass on the street- has had us all in tears at one point or another this week. (Yeah.. ok.. soooo more than once. Emotions have run high at The Asylum, and the Kleenex box has taken a heck of a hit mopping up the overflow.)

So to all the guys and gals at GeorgiaPacking.org, we say a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU, and MERRY CHRISTMAS. You have ALL helped make a tremendous difference in the life of this fine person. None of us know how to thank you all. You are truly a tremendous BROTHERHOOD. And you have, each and every one, shown what the TRUE Meaning of the Season is.

There is another group- this time of ladies- who have shown they too will not forget the Reason. Another online group made a big difference to a woman I don't think anyone had met in person. Not knowing this other person made no difference- one saw a need, had an idea, and BLAMO--- it snowballed and became a surprise that brought joy, love, and let another very fine person know they were treasured by quite a few.

It's groups like these random people that truly make MY Season. They remind me-- not all is lost. Not all turn into raving lunatics when Christmas carols play screechingly loud. Instead these folks pass the joy along in sometimes small ways, sometimes rather big ways, smile, and move on. They show us all what CHRISTMAS is.

Merry Christmas. May the Season reach out to you in a special way as well, and may YOU be able to pass that Gift along to others too.

You and DH are pretty special people. Wrecking crew are lucky to have such great examples as parents. There is hope for the next generation!

Glad I was able to take part in the online one :)

Pie & I were going to send something to help out your houseguest but we've had a few unexpected bills pop up lately. May still be able to scrape up something but not sure how soon, sorry.

There are good - I might even say great - people out there in the world and your post is a good reminder of that. A very merry Christmas to you and all of yours!

That is absolutely wonderful that so many people have stepped up and helped this man. There are still some decent people out there in this world that will do anything to help someone in need.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
