I'm Such A Bad Blogger

Ever since the time change, I've had a bear of a time getting adjusted. Mornings are an exercise in frustration, as my worn out, tired, beat up old bod is convinced that no, we are NOT supposed to be UP yet. It feels like torture. However, daylight is burning, so up I get. Never one to sleep when there was light out and work to be done, up it is like it or not.

You'd think that I'd have had ample time by now to adjust, right? Yeah- me too. Apparently though, as I've noticed over the past few years, that adjustment period gets longer and more difficult. Which sucks, but hey- Cowgirl Up and all that right?

Hey look! It's a pregnant gelding!

Speaking of which- he is wonderful. Slick, shiny, dapples in his coat, Lutin is looking FINE and struttin' his stuff. (Which is usually only from the hay pile to the water tank. Maybe I ought to put the water tank at the far end of the field so he has to walk more...HA~)

Thankfully my hoof is gaining (though if the Locust Brothers or Jo should happen to stomp on it, it still hurts like hell,) so we are going to be getting back into the swing of riding and having more Pony Time. Cause, you know, life sucks with out Pony Time.

A while back we got some free samples in the mail from Winnie's Cookies. I gave them out to a few clients- and all but one loved them. My sweet little donkey jenny about turned her big beautiful ears inside out for them. Her little mini horse buddy though turned his pretty little nose up at them. Which suited the jenny fine- she ate his share!

Lutin gave them 4 hooves up too and hoovered up the ones we gave him.

If you happen to be looking for a good (and healthy) treat for your equine love, these seem to be a good deal.

All the pictures in today's post are older-- my Flip camera took itself for a walk and has not returned yet. (Dammit.) I've dug out my old real nice Kodak camera, ordered a new cable for downloading pictures, wiped away the dust and even remembered how to change the batteries out in it. It will be fun to see what images are on the memory cards- they're only about what... four or five years old?

These flowers are for Johnny Reb.

Can I just say with vehemence, I Hate Mondays? OK so maybe not "hate", but I damn sure don't enjoy many Monday's these days. Why not? Because it seems like Every.Single.Time. something goes on with Johnny Reb (from the initial hospitalization at the end of Feb, to today's event) happens on a blasted Monday. Poor Johnny Reb is having a tough time- again- and as I type is being transported to the hospital/ER for an evaluation. We don't know if it is a medication reaction, an illness, a side effect to one of his medications or a combo of his meds, but Johnny Reb is not feeling well At.All. right now.

That is just a little bit of why I've been a bad blogger. It has seemed a lot more important lately to be out, in the sun, living as much as we can- rather than being tied to the computer. By the time night rolls around, I'm too tired to write of our adventures. Shoot, right now I'm just too tired, period. Sleep has been hard to come by for about two weeks- I keep hearing things going bump in the night and getting up to check and see what it is. I have to wonder when I first come to- was it in a dream, or did something really go bump out there? I've learned though, there are differences in the waking process. When what wakes me is one of the boys, I'll pop an eye half open to see what the issue is (usually Cub is sleep walking again or talking in his sleep or both,) handle the situation, and crash back into dreamland.

But when there is a noise that does NOT belong... boy howdy-- there is a tingling along my spine, both eyes are open and my ears are straining to hear the tiniest sounds. Nothing like going from comatose to on full alert in the deep, dark of the night is there? Not to mention the after effects of that adrenalin rush!

Ah well- enough complaining. In the grand scheme of things, Life is good and getting better. Bumps in the road only fix it so you enjoy the smooth stretches more. I may not post much, but I AM around, reading, emailing, and riding along with you.

And now y'all, the sun is calling and I need to be out with it shining on my face.

Happy Hoofin'
~MM

So true. Hang in there, I see a smooth stretch coming

I did that when the ponies were here. Every bump, every sound that was a little abnormal, I'd be wide awake. Most of the time, it was Rox thumping the wall, thumping my bed, making weird noises, etc. I tried really hard to just let her tell me when there was a problem, but that often didn't work.

I didn't have this problem on the farm. But, we lived OUT with a LONG driveway. So clearly, safety wasn't the issue it is here at this house, on a busy corner. Perhaps that's the cause of my sleeplessness?

I am sleeping a wee bit better now that the ponies are on pasture board.

I wish Daylight Savings was our "time" year 'round.

Less than two weeks and I'll be down to visit!

Thanks for the azalea shot. Miss them! Spring in the south is beautiful (until the no-see-ums come to get you!)

I'm sure I can speak for most when I say we're glad to hear from you when you do post. Life definitely gets in the way...there's nothing wrong with that. Just wish it was better circumstances -- sorry to hear about Reb.

As for the adrenaline, if you get a real rush, you should walk around for a while and get it out of your system. The first police officer on the scene the night I was robbed 7 years ago made me walk...and walk...and walk (the LAST thing I wanted to do was WALK), while they were doing their paperwork. He said it's like a drug in the system and can make you physically ill if it leaves too quickly - or incompletely.

Thanks TJ. I find myself thinking of you and Mark often too, hoping Spring is settling down some for you!

OS- Lutin said he is looking forward to seeing how he looks in purple.. LOL ;)

Dreaming- I'll have some more soon as I get the cord for the Kodak. There will be gardenias and umm.... shoot... I think Hydrangea's (those are the ones that start out that deep dark lovely purple and change to blues etc right?) along with Confederate Rose for you too in Sept!

*giggle* Promise!! Yer a Daddy! ;) (I'm kidding!! Love you guys no matter what though!) And I do get up and move post-abrupt wake up. It helps tremendously!! Smooch Promise from me!

I so hear you on the being out in the sun when you can be! I am working in the office today , and resenting it mightily! Bumps in the night get me going too, a few nights ago it was Dany cast in the shed, I heard something (i guess) and went out just as he went down. So into my boots and coat over my nightie! got him out easy enough but yeesh! not a fun wake up

We all love to hear from you no matter what.. Keeping the prayers going for Johnny Reb. I was anticipating being ON my horse today, but that icky virus that everyone else had waaaay back when is trying to get me, along with the icky weather. When/if the gale force winds, rain/snow ever slow down, my horse and I will try to get re-acquainted. I figure under the circumstances, I should probably be a tad bit careful. I want my first ride to be a great memory...not an oops!
Juanita
PS - Lutin looks great. Love the shots of the kids with horse!!!!

Hang in there, Mrs Mom! You've had some tough breaks lately. But yay for Lutin--what a great pony.

OS- Yeah, I bet if there are carrots involved, we can get Lutin to do / wear just about anything... *evil giggle*

FV- there is something about middle of the night runs outside that find us dressed (or NOT dressed at times HA~) in some of the most interesting combos. I've been known to dash out in a t-shirt and sneakers... with a flashlight and a pistol...LOL.. Dear Husband-- oh geeze.. we dont need to go there LMAO!! Lets just say that is one set of potential house breakers that we've never seen hide nor hair of since they saw his gun... and his pistol in his hand.... HA~

Juanita- please make the first few rides careful ones! Your Bionics have to get used to riding ;)

Laura- Lutin ROCKS!! :) Big rubs to Henry and your Sunny from us!

Hang in there and update us when you can. Real life is more important that regular blog updates! Hope everything is ok with poor Johnny Reb and Mrs. Johnny Reb! Dealing with stuff like that is tough on the family.

I hope you and the locust bros. get some more pony time - that is good therapy! I think Lutin will look dashing in purple... :-)

I'm surprised you can blog at all--that's a lot on your plate. And, when you can ride....there'll be even less time. Hope Johnny Reb gets fixed up at the ER and they figure it out for him. Best wishes your way.

No wonder I felt prompted to pray for Johnny Reb. So sorry and hope things have calmed down a bit.

Those rhodies are beautiful - come on up... our redneck woods are full of 'em in summer.

Get that hoof well!

I've not adjusted well to the time change either. Glad your foot is healing and you'll be back in the saddle soon.

Sorry to hear that Johhny Reb is having more issues. That really sucks.

Winnies Cookies, I remember them from my time working in the tack store. My horses thought they were candy.

Keeping y'all in my prayers.

It doesn't matter to me if you need to take some time off from blogging. I'll be waiting around until you get back.

Take care of you and yours- and that adorable, fat pony!

Those are beautiful flowers btw. And I too belong to the pregnant gelding club. It's so bad I just look out there and roll my eyes. Yesterday he laid down to cat nap in the sun and I asked him if his walk from the feeder to the fence was that exhausting?
