We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year. It's been quite a year for us at The Asylum- a lot of it stressful but lately it's been wonderful.
For starters, an update: This is LONG overdue, as Tracey's filly has been home for a bit, but Flirt HAS been located and she is home safe and Tracey is now back to resting again. Amen.
My Equine Thankful:
Today, I rode my Phat Horse. Thanks to an old injury (of mine, not his) acting up, I had not chanced riding in over a month. And it SUCKED, as the weather here is freaking perfect for riding right now. So today I said the heck with it-- old injury or not, I was GOING to ride.
So we did.
And my heart is still happy.
Normally, my Phine Phat Phellow is quite mellow and an easy, reliable ride. However, this morning both he and Tater were wound pretty tight, so Phat Boy had to have some ground work before I dared to get up on his couch-like back. Once his brain was focused (on ME and not what Tater was doing as he tore around the paddock like a crazy loon, pretending he was a high school, airs above the grounds horse,) Phatz and I had a great ride. His wonderful Phati-Tude was present, and he even *tried* to buck. Now, I say *tried* as honestly, when Phatz attempts to kick up his heels, he really does not have much luck. It's like sitting on a couch that is having a hiccup. He makes me laugh, which makes him toss his mane around and stomp his feet. Rotten. My horse is rotten.
After Phat Boy and I puttered about, it was time to play with Tater. He was wonderful- his airs above the ground in the paddock had worn him down, so he was nicely focused on what we were doing. Smart smart colt and he is coming along well.
My Thankfuls?
My horses are happy, phat and healthy. Can't ask for more than that.
My Family Thankfuls:
Lots.
Lots and lots, really.
The Locust Brothers are doing great. Huge, healthy, smart, crazy kids who keep me on my toes and never knowing what to expect from them from minute to minute.
In these times of vanishing jobs with every dollar getting tougher to come by, Dear Husband's job is going great. He actually just got a promotion this week, prompting me to come up with a new nickname for him here on the blog-- maybe Lt. Handsome works! (It fits.. the man looks mighty handsome in his uniform!)
But what I am most Thankful for? He is home. Every night.
To learn what brought this on, go to The GunDivas Blog and read this story, "Travesty of Justice".
I'll warn you now- if you think that being a victim and allowing someone to kill you is better than fighting for your life, then don't bother reading the story. If you believe in self defense, and the 2nd Amendment, and ESPECIALLY if you carry a firearm -- read the story. Be aware of what CAN happen when you do have to resort to using lethal force to save your life.
And in a bit of shameless self promotion.. with Christmas a stone's throw away, if you are looking for stocking stuffers of gift ideas, be sure to pop in at Southern Winds Solutions and see what ideas we have to offer! From small stuff, like keyfobs and bracelets, to horse, dog and cat gear, to gag gifts like thongs- we have something to suit your needs. If you don't see what you need, email me. I am sure we can work out a plan just for you! Special Christmas pricing in effect!
And I am thankful for blogging. I've met a lot of great people through this blog and others that I (try to) read- and you've all enriched life here at The Asylum. So from all of us at the Nut House, to all of you-- may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!
