The tragedy in CT has affected all our lives, whether we were directly related to those involved or not. People are asking WHY endlessly-- and unfortunately, we will never know why. What we can do now is keep everyone- the families who lost children, the families who lost their spouses, the family of the nutf*ckwhacko, and all of the emergency responders who have to clean up the nutf*ckwhackos mess, lifted in prayer and in our hearts.
I have thoughts and will post later on the entire debate that you know we are following closely- that being the Second Amendment once again being threatened. But I will say for now--
A GLOCK IS NOT AN ASSAULT WEAPON.
A SIG-SAUR IS NOT AN ASSAULT WEAPON.
A .223 CALIBER RIFLE IS ALSO NOT AN ASSAULT WEAPON.
The firearms involved did not convince this person to commit this heinous act.
They did not jump out of their holster and do the deed themselves.
That took man's hand. Just as it has taken man's hand from the dawn of time to utilize things as weapons- from rocks and sticks and bones to today with knives, bows and arrows, and firearms. It takes the hand of man to become lethal.
Ponder that.
And pray for all involved.

I totally agree with you Mrs. Mom. We just had a tragic situation here in Casper at our college where 3 people died, and there was not a single gun involved.
I also dislike that people chalk things like this up to someone being crazy. I don't think crazy had anything to do with it. I would consider someone crazy if they opened fire on a police station where there were a bunch of armed people. But to open fire on unarmed people, that takes a bully.
I do not know a single person that was personally affected by this event, yet even now 24 hours later, I still shed a tear every so often. It hurts me to know that there are so many families trying to navigate their way through their own worst nightmare right now.
This situation is so heartbreaking, and no matter what they find as a motive for this person's actions, it will NEVER make any sense.
I cannot wait to see more of your thoughts on this... I do wonder why it was so important to release the type of weapons that this man used against these defenseless teachers and children. Knowing what guns were used doesn't make it any less heartbreaking for anyone...
Just one day before this tragedy, there was an attach on a Chinese primary school with 22 children injured... In not one of the articles I read, did they tell what type of knife that man wielded...
Prayers for the entire small Connecticut community...
I absolutely refuse to watch the news media coverage of this. Out of respect for the victims and their families, but mostly because it makes me sick the way they sensationalize everything, and try their darndest to get the most mileage out of it. Bah! I'd rather spend my time praying for the children than watch nauseating news anchors.
MY heart cries for the children and families. that is all
My thoughts are definitely with those poor families... what an horrendous thing to happen. :-(
