It seems there is a pattern emerging, in which late in the year/ early in the new year, illness invades The Asylum.
And totally
Kicks
Our
Asses.
This year has been no exception. Right after Christmas, the Locust Brothers came down with a cold. It hit with a quickness and ferocity that filled my heart with dread.. 'cause I just *knew* what was coming. We adults did pretty good for about a week, as the Locusts struggled through the grips of the germs. I was secretly hoping that hey, maybe we'd skip the misery and be OK!
Yeah, right. Like THAT happened. Oh no.. no no no. I woke up one morning, perfectly fine and rolling and about 3 hours into my day BLAMO...... it hit. I went from 60 to about negative 10 in no time. It started simple- with a non-stop faucet on my face instead of a nose. Couple days of that, and I was doing better than the Locusts had. Once again I was optimistic, thinking I'd get off easy.
Started to do better, had to run errands on Saturday and by Sunday we were in a fast downhill spiral once again. Sunday, yesterday and so far today have been filled with just plain misery.
Saturday, Lt. Handful came down with this crap.
But at least the Locusts are doing better.
On a non-illness front, the horses are good. Our regular hay supplier and I had a hiccup in our communications, resulting in us having to use a back up supplier. Can I just tell you how thankful I am for our backup supplier? They delivered for me this morning. (Yep. I have been sick enough that driving 13 miles to get hay is a BAD IDEA.) I felt like Typhoid Mary, standing waaaay back to hand over my money (that I tried real hard NOT to handle much) *just in case* germs were still in the "infective" stage. Last thing I'd want to do is get these wonderful folks sick.
I've had a moment or 2 (because I am so not up to running around like normal) to reflect back over 2012 a bit. I'm not going to go into a long drawn out month by month break down but I am going to say, for the most part, Life is on an upswing. Aside from Phat Boy and his issues last Spring, we had a pretty darn good year. And I think it's kinda cool to call Dear Husband "Lt. Handful" now too.. (Thanks BEEL for the name!!! Bet you didn't think it would stick!)
OK. I think this about fills my desire to be sitting fully up-right for the moment, so I am going to sign off and schlep back to my chair and drool on myself a tad. Y'all stay healthy out there and keep your ponies in the middle.
Happy Hoofin

Oh...get healthy. It's totally un-fun to be sick. Yucky. Hope your New Year is full of wonderful things!
Sure hope you get rid of that crud faster! Here's hoping you have a really good year- no more sickness!
Sorry y'all've been sick! That Beel---he's one witty dude, isn't he?
feel better soon
Oh, soooo sorry about the bugs and germs; they can certainly mess up a good day! However, you are getting it out of the way early and should have NO guilt feelings about great health the rest of the year.
BTW, quit encouraging Beel. I have to live with him! (and Ranger, too)
Bionic Cowgirl
How awful. I know. Because it visited us in November and it's BAAAACK. Shoot me now.
And I have to teach a sign language course in Itty Bit's class tomorrow. Think I should hug that kid who punched him in the head last week? eek
But...are you all better now? Praying!
